Internationalisation - Local Efforts, Global Connections

National Wellness Institute of Australia on the International Radar!

Launch of an exciting new International Wellness Directory (free to NWIA members)

Hello All,

As you may be aware a number of NWIA members have been involved for the past 3 NWI Wellness Conferences in Wisconsin with a group of international attendees to increase the presence and input of internationals at the conference. Achievements this year included an international stream featuring international speakers, an international lunch, an international forum and an international name tag ribbon. The group also had a brief meeting with the NWI Board of Directors to report on the group's achievements and discuss their objectives for the following 12 months.

These objectives were:

·       Create a directory of international wellness professionals and organisations.

·         Provide ESL support for those presentations in a language other than English.

·         Increase International presentations at the 2009 National Wellness Conference.

·         Develop a list of descriptions/definitions of what wellness means throughout the world.

·         Have an International presence on the National Wellness Institute's website.

·         Work to design the National Wellness Institute in many languages.

·         Work to Be "A Voice" for global wellness.

The group has made great steps forward on our first bullet point.  Michaela Conley, CEO of HPCareer.net, has been so gracious to sponsor and design www.IDWellness.org.  Michaela and Laura Brownlee have been working very closely to make this site user-friendly with many functions.

As a NWIA member it is with great pleasure that I invite you to join the International Wellness Committee's "International Directory of Wellness Professionals" at www.IDWellness.org.

Please peruse the site, join (complete the profile questions and provide a photo) and also join the NWIA group (under the 'Groups' menu). The directory provides an excellent medium to meet, greet, discuss/debate issues and network with other Wellness enthusiasts from all over the globe. If you are aware of others who would wish to be a member of the Directory please direct them to the NWIA page to become a NWIA member so as they can enrol on the Directory.

Also as a means to assist the group to achieve bullet point three of the objectives (especially to increase the Aussie presence) I encourage you to check out NWI's website www.nationalwellness.org where a Call for Proposals to present at NWC '09 has been placed on the site. The deadline for proposal submissions is October 6, 2008. Please note on your proposal that it is to be included in the International Wellness stream.

Cheers

Bob Boyd
